Buckymania, 2006-2008: Mission accomplished!

"Chase your dreams. They don't come to you."--Bucky Covington

Bucky Covington in Atlanta; photo by Mike Clifton of Local Sports Online. Click here to see more of his beautiful photography, or call 770-460-7910 for more information. Thank you, Mr. Clifton!

It's ironic--sometimes chasing your dreams until they catch you brings about changes you never could have anticipated. Back in March of 2006, you and I met here at Buckymania. Together, we watched a talented young country singer named Bucky Covington chase his dream on American Idol--and those exciting musical Tuesdays and suspenseful Wednesdays brought us all closer, as we voted and cheered and dreamed of his first CD and his Nashville career right along with him...

Now that's what I call a smile! Photo by DeniseBernadette--click image to view her beautiful tour gallery.Photo by DeniseBernadette--click image to view her gallery.)

You and I have been here sharing the fun through Bucky's Idol journey, through the excitement of the American Idols Live! tour, through the long and uncertain post-Idol tour stretch, through the news of his studio time and the sweet surprise of the GAC Christmas tour, through his first hit single, his #1 album, his first major awards nomination, and through many, many hot and happening concerts all over the country. The tale of Bucky Covington and his delighted supporters is a textbook example of the power and magic inherent in chasing a dream, holding on tight, and never giving up.

What's ironic is that helping Bucky chase his career dream ultimately led to me catching one of my own. I've been offered a professional opportunity that I'd be crazy not to jump on, and I've accepted. The downside is that there's no way I'll be able to honor my commitment to a new, labor-intensive project and still do a quality job with Buckymania. The upside is that our mission here is quite beautifully accomplished.

Bucky's online presence is in amazing paid-professional hands with O-Seven, Lyric Street and MCN's BuckyCovington.com--his blossoming, busy, undeniably successful career really outgrew one lone indie blogger's capacities about a year ago, to be honest! Even though one fan site is closing, Bucky's very strong support system, official and fan-based, will go on and grow even stronger as he heads on down the highway toward that thirty-year career he's made it clear he's after. (And there's no doubt in my mind he'll get it.)

I am still and forever a devoted Bucky Covington fan--I'll be on the phones requesting and voting, and at the shows cheering and dancing, too. You can count on that.

This wouldn't be a proper goodbye post without some big thanks.

Thanks to all the regular readers for your friendship, emails and sweetness, and to everyone who has graciously sent photos, videos, news, information and kind thoughts these past two years--I typed, but YOU made Buckymania the beautiful and informative blog that it was. Bucky Covington is truly blessed with the greatest fans in the world!

Thanks to Hildi for giving me an encouraging word that changed my whole life.

Thanks to Blogger.com for making Buckymania a Blog of Note last year and getting the ball rolling.

Thanks to AmaTexMom for an extraordinary kindness that helped to keep the blog alive.

Thanks to all the lovely lurkers, media reps and record company folk who have stopped in and kept tabs. (I'm flattered!)

Thanks to Ducky, Caitlin, Shaun, Hans, Steve, Jefferson, Scott, Tom, Rocky and Jeff for rockin' the house night after night; to the crew, friends and family who help make it happen out there on the road; to Mark Miller, the Harris Brothers, Lyric Street and MCN for being incredible, and to the Covington Family for being so wonderfully gracious.

Thanks to the brilliant songwriters who gave Bucky some fine, fine music to sing.

Thanks to everyone I'm no doubt forgetting at at this late (and kind of emotional) hour.

Yep, that's me--tired from traveling all night and winter-pale, but I wouldn't have missed Bucky Covington's Opry debut for the world. Photo taken March 2007 at Opryland. And thanks so much to Bucky Covington for some of the best, sweetest and most fun musical moments I've ever had, hands down. It's been a joy!

Buckymania's closing, but the archives will remain online for as long as Blogger allows, and along with the great fan sites in the sidebar, there's a hot new fan blog just setting up shop--please visit the very kind Fran and enjoy the debut of Buckytown USA.

For the last video, I'll go "back to the future" a bit and post my very favorite Bucky Covington Idol performance from 2006. He's come a long, long way since this one, but the honesty and pure heart in his voice that night remains to this day--and it'll be there twenty years from now, too.

I'll see y'all on the road!--Winnie

Evening news: New York encore, summertime fun and a chart check...

Bucky Covington sings from the heart at the KNCI Country in the Park concert in Sacramento; photo by our very talented friend Minnie, who shares more of her excellent shots from the show in her Photobucket gallery. Thanks again, Minnie!

Bucky Covington's upcoming second album (and doesn't it feel good to think about that?) is the subject of his most recent News feature at GAC. Bucky's quote indicates that he's eager to take the time to focus on quality:

"When a lot of people come up, they have all the time in the world for the first album, and then the second album is rushed," he explains. "I’m kinda opposite. I had no time for the first album, and now I got a lot more time for the second album."

His new single, "I'll Walk", was mentioned in the article as well, and it finishes the day at #57 on the Mediabase weighted chart and #51 on the Top 500. (If your local country station's playing it now, feel free to request! And if it isn't--yet--keep listening for those songfights and challenges...)

Click to hear Bucky Covington's music at his official MySpace
The live party rolls on, too--as Steve Cook mentioned in his excellent journal at Shiny Bass, Bucky's last official Throttle Wide Open show is in the rear view mirror, but there's plenty of concert fun on the horizon. The Dutchess County Fair site has been updated with new information (including ticket links) on Bucky's August 22nd show at the fairgrounds in Rhinebeck, New York with Keith Anderson.

Shows coming up in May: see Bucky and his brilliant band at the Wild West Bar and Grill in Canton, Georgia tomorrow (this is a Free for All show sponsored by 94.9 The Bull), at the WZZK Throwdown with Kellie Pickler, Sara Evans and Blake Shelton in downtown Birmingham on Saturday, May 10th (tickets via Ticketmaster), at the WOKK Birthday Bash at the Lauderdale County Agri-Center in Meridian, MS with Kellie Pickler on May 22nd, at the Grand Ole Opry on May 27th (tickets at the Opry's online box office, and there' s a discount coupon code, too) , at the Winfield Country Roundup in Kansas on Friday, May 30th at 8:30 p.m., and at Grizzly Rose in Denver on May 31st; this will be an all-ages show.

(Yep, Bucky and company are working hard to give you a great time this summer--be sure to get out and see them if you can.)

Finally, be sure to stop in at Country's Chatter, where some food for thought about Country Weekly's "Kings in Waiting" survey--and a great photo of Bucky--await you.

See you later tonight--Winnie

A reminder--Bucky Covington live in Georgia tomorrow night...

Bucky Covington, Ducky Medlock and Steve Cook rock the crowd at the Murat Theatre in Indianapolis; photo by the very generous Buckaholic. See more of her beautiful images at Photobucket. Thanks again!

Just a reminder--94.9 The Bull is sponsoring Bucky Covington's Free for All concert at the Wild West Bar and Grill in Canton, Georgia tomorrow, and it looks like plenty of Bucky's talented camera-toting fans will be on hand for the fun! There will be a conference call from the show tomorrow night, courtesy of the very gracious Hildi and her kind helpers--details about the call will be posted in the forums at Bucky's official site. Huge thanks in advance to Hildi and her crew! Back later today--Winnie

Coffee break news: Wednesday's sales and chart update

Bucky Covington pauses on stage in this great shot by our friend Happydays; click here to see more of her photos from the Birmingham show. Thanks again, Happydays!

Thanks to a gracious anonymous commenter for this update on Bucky Covington's latest chart-climber: "Bucky's 'I'll Walk' is #56, up 4 spots on this week's Radio & Records." But that's not all--scroll down on the Radio & Records page and check out the Country Most Added list, where "I'll Walk" comes in at an impressive second most added song of the week, right after longtime hitmakers Borrks and Dunn. Lookin' good! (Thanks so much, Anon.)

Ken Barnes has the latest sales results posted at USAToday's Idol Chatter blog, where the news is steadily good. Bucky Covington, the album, sold 1,300 copies this week, same as last week, bringing the total number sold to 341,000 and counting. (Gold's in sight, y'all...)

And a reminder--Bo Bice guests on tonight's American Idol results show, which airs in a few moments at 9 p.m. ET. More soon--Winnie

Very quick news: a hometown hello, Idol tonight and more...

By request, Bucky Covington on stage at Coyote Joe's in Charlotte; photo by the very kind Buckyroo. Thanks again, Buckyroo!

I've got a Big Meeting today (wish me luck!) so the big news post will happen a little later than usual. Here's a quick look at the morning happenings:

Bucky Covington's label, Lyric Street, let his first fans in Richmond County know about his new single, "I'll Walk", and the Richmond County Daily Journal has a story about that and his upcoming Habitat concert there on November 15th. Looks like Bucky's hometown supporters are still in voting mode... (Many thanks, Anon!)

Speaking of Bucky's new single, it's currently #57 with a bullet on the Mediabase weighted charts and a bulleted #51 on the Top 500. Keep an ear out for it at your local country radio station-- and if you're a traveler or a streaming radio fan, Yes.com can help you find Bucky's music wherever you're listening...

Just posting this because I flat-out like it--here's Bucky Covington (and a humidity-affected guitar) performing a haunting "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" during the WSOC Redneck Yacht Club cruise last year. Thanks to scbuckyroo for graciously sharing the clip on YouTube.

In one of Bucky's very first major Idol-era interviews, he credited talented Southern rocker Bo Bice as an inspiration to begin his own Idol journey. Bo's official site (where you can also find information on his current album, See the Light) has him listed as appearing on American Idol's results show tonight--a must see, y'all!

Back with much more later today--have a wonderful Wednesday!

Just in: Bucky on Lia tonight...

Bucky Covington is in the Artist Spotlight on Lia's nationally syndicated radio show tonight (10:20 p.m. ET) . There's a list of stations carrying Lia available at Radiotime, including streaming options. Tune in, call Lia at 1-800-577-7LIA, and enjoy!

A quick chart check and more summer fun...

Bucky Covington on stage in Las Cruces --photo by the very kind AmaTexMom, who shares more of her terrific images from the KGRT-sponsored show at her site, BuckyFanPics. Thanks for this beautiful shot!

Bucky Covington's new single, "I'll Walk", starts the day at #56 on the Mediabase weighted chart and #51 on the Top 500, and it looks as though it's on target to break into the Top 50 very soon. (If your station's playing it, keep requesting, y'all!)

Fans in the Independence, Missouri area might catch a glimpse of Bucky tomorrow--he'll be in town for the (sold out, unfortunately) Rockman Celebrity Golf Tournament at WinterStone Golf Course, which benefits the Sunshine Center. The Examiner has a story about the tournament and the inspiration behind it--and the sponsors are also hoping to put together a concert with Bucky and this year's talented Idol rocker David Cook sometime down the road. (Sounds cool!)

In the meantime, some confirmed shows for summer are shaping up nicely--more details on that Muskegon Summer Celebration in the Grand Rapids area are available at MLive.com today, including new pass and ticket types. Bucky will appear at the Celebration on July 2nd with Montgomery Gentry--click here for lots (and we mean lots!) of ticket options.

The Adams County Fair site has been updated, too; Bucky's fans in the Mendon, IL area can enjoy the show on Friday, July 25th. (Ticket information is a little fuzzy, though--if you're planning to go, bookmark the site and check back.)

Bucky Covington sings at the Rockford MetroCenter during a Throttle Wide Open concert last month; photo by Scott Morgan of the Rockford Register Star. (Click here for Creative Commons info.)

And of course, lots of Bucky's fans from all over will be in town for the big CMA Fest in Nashville June 5-8. (Seems like that one's just around the corner, doesn't it?) Bucky's not only part of the Festival--he'll be performing in the Nightly Concert at LP Field on Sunday, June 8th--he's also part of the site today, via a cute Country Weekly themed poll on the front page. Scroll down and have fun...

Be sure to check in at Country's Chatter for exciting news (and great photos) on some of the other artists you'll be enjoying at CMA Fest this year. Back with more soon--enjoy your Tuesday! (It is Tuesday, isn't it?)

First look at Tuesday: Bucky Covington returns to Richmond County...

We'll have a full news post here for you soon, but for now, this blurb from the Richmond County Daily Journal sounds like good news for Bucky's very first fans: "[Richmond County Commissioner Pam Dillman] announced that Habitat for Humanity will hold a concert featuring Bucky Covington to raise money for Habitat on Nov. 15 in Richmond County." That's all they wrote, but that's enough for celebrating! We'll add more info as it becomes available. See you later this morning--Winnie

(P.S.--Yes, that headline did say "Monday" earlier. I need coffee!)

More dunebuggy fun, and a Country Weekly reminder

Ducky Medlock and Bucky Covington sing out at Country Thunder festival in Florence, Arizona; photo by the very kind Gayle L., who posted a full gallery from the show here. Enjoy!

A little fun on wheels is yours at YouTube today--click here to enjoy Bucky Covington, his band and some seriously wild dunebuggy action in a three-minute clip by Team Joyner USA. (Hang on tight!)

And thanks to Bren for reminding us that the current (May 19th) Country Weekly issue with the results of that "Kings In Waiting"survey is gracing your newsstand right now--Bucky came in at #3 in this sweet tribute to tomorrow's big stars.

More soon!--Winnie

Quick Monday news: "I'll Walk" hits the fifties and more...

Happydays took this great shot of Bucky Covington on stage in Estero, FL --click here to see more of her fun concert and meet-and-greet images. Thanks again, Happydays!

Bucky Covington's brand new single,"I'll Walk" begins the week by flirting with Top 50 status--it's now #56 on the Mediabase weighted chart and #54 on the Top 500, with two bright red bullets. Keep listening for it on your local station, and feel free to call them up and let them know you're enjoying it. (If you haven't heard it yet, tune in for those song challenge segments and be prepared to give Bucky's new tune a boost.) It's Good to Be Us has some excellent request tips based on Midask9's fun personal experience. (Yes, subtle charm and flirting skills are good to have, no matter what you're up to...)

Click to hear Bucky Covington's music at his official MySpace
Bucky and his band's killer on-stage charms are evident on the road, where he's been incredibly busy--there's so much Stagecoach coverage that we'll just point you to Google News and let them dazzle you. (The big, somewhat amusing question for Bucky Covington fans is, of course, how doing "Fortunate Son" at the same festival where the legendary--and awesome--John Fogerty played can be considered a respectful tribute and a triumph by one newspaper reviewer at Country Thunder one weekend, and tagged a "faux pas" by another newspaper reviewer at Stagecoach the next. Those of us who actually heard the Arizona concert through the magic of technology are gonna have to go with the Country Thunder review...just sayin'. It rocked!)

You'll be able to hear Bucky rock it for yourself (sans a Fogerty performance the day before, alas) on May 9th, when 94.9 The Bull is sponsoring a Free for All concert at the Wild West Bar and Grill in Canton, Georgia. (As we've stressed many a time, there's really nothing like these intimate venues for an amazing live music experience--be there if you can.) On the 10th, Bucky joins Kellie Pickler, Sara Evans and Blake Shelton for the WZZK Throwdown concert in downtown Birmingham; tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster. The 22nd finds Bucky reunited with good friend Kellie Pickler for the WOKK Birthday Bash at the Lauderdale County Agri-Center in Meridian, MS. (This is one of those "win your ticket" events, so tune in and keep listening to 97 OKK for your chance to be there...)

I got a note saying "I heard you love 'Bible and the Belt', so could you post that one next?" I do, and my pleasure--here's FLCathy's fantastic video of Bucky and his band rockin' it out, from their recent Myrtle Beach show. Thanks for writing!

And on May 27th, Bucky performs on the Grand Ole Opry at the Opry House in Nashville; call 1-800-SEE-OPRY or click here for tickets. And remember, there's a discount for this one--
use coupon code "WEBFAN" or head over here to print a coupon to present to any Grand Ole Opry box office to receive $3.00 off of your ticket purchase. (Sawyer Brown and Bucky's labelmate Phil Stacey are also on the bill that night--sounds like a wonderful evening of music!) You'll definitely want to make Bucky Covington part of your summer concert schedule--follow his through this handy animated Gruvr tour map, and bookmark the Tour page at his official site for all the latest...

Last but absolutely not least, we'll repeat these photo links from late last night-- Getty Images and Wire Image were there for the Stagecoach show, and their photographers captured Bucky and his band beautifully. Enjoy! Back with more later today--Winnie

We're back, and Bucky's on YouTube (updated with photo links)

It's good to be back! While we're waiting for the big news from this weekend's adventures, here's a link to Bucky Covington's latest video on YouTube--enjoy a bit of vicarious dunebuggy fun. And for a very early start on the week, here's a fun blast from the past from the talented DiamondstarBC.

(Edited to add links to photos of Bucky's Stagecoach performances at Getty Images and Wire Image. More later!--Winnie)

Stagecoach Festival and a mini-hiatus...

Bucky Covington rocks the crowd at the Germain Arena in Estero, Florida; photo by the very kind Lisa/Judge. You can see more of her great images and graphics at her Buck Wild fan site. Thanks again, Lisa!

Today's a busy working day for Bucky Covington and his excellent band--they'll be taking the stage at the Stagecoach Festival in Indio at about 4 p.m. Pacific time--that's about 7 p.m. ET. Hildi is sponsoring a conference call from the show, and Nikki will be your kind hostess. Many thanks to both gracious ladies and their helpers for making the call possible. (If you're a fan club member, log in at Bucky's official site for more details...)

Bucky's single, "I'll Walk", continues its pre-release adventure with a bulleted #62 spot on the Mediabase weighted chart and a #58 position on the Top 500. Here's hoping your local country station is on board now, or will be soon! If it is, feel free to pick up that phone and request, y'all. Txbuckyfan made the cute graphic banner below to underscore that point--thank you for sending it along! (Please click the image to view full size.)

"I'll Walk" request banner made by the very kind TXbuckyfan--thank you so much!

Real life is calling me today (actually, it's yelling pretty loudly, and how dare it get in the way of my music-loving time?) so the blog will be on a mini-hiatus until late Sunday--however, there's plenty of Stagecoach coverage in progress:

We'll see you back here on Sunday--have a great weekend, everyone!

Conference call from Las Vegas (Friday)

Thanks! Hildi is graciously sponsoring a call from the Dierks Bentley concert in Las Vegas this evening, with the help of the very kind Nikki. Bucky Covington is opening; for more info, check the the Road sub-forum at the official fan club boards.

(Edited--call's over now, but stay tuned for more fun from the road as the tour rolls on. Many thanks to Hildi and Nikki for their kindness!--Winnie)

New concert video, hot off the presses...

Huge thanks to the awesomely talented Buckymouse for capturing Bucky Covington and his band in such beautiful style! Enjoy "The Wall" and "Fortunate Son" from this week's Rio Rancho show--and if that inspires a little yearning to see Bucky live, click here for his official concert schedule. More soon!--Winnie

First look at Friday: Country Weekly update, Delaware State Fair, Winfield schedule and more..

Thanks to the very gracious Buckymouse for this terrific photo of Bucky Covington on stage in Rio Rancho, NM Wednesdsay night; she also captured Rocky Covington looking very dashing indeed in a new hat (scroll down.) Kudos to Buckymouse for sharing!

Bucky's fans in Delaware can now consider those rumors confirmed--he will indeed be part of this year's Delaware State Fair on July 23rd, when he'll open for the great Trace Adkins. (These two gentlemen have lots of mutual fans. This should be a night to remember!) Tickets go on sale May 15th; you'll be able to buy them online via the Fair's site, or click here for more info on ticket options, locally and nationally. Congratulations!)

Bucky's also part of this year's Winfield Country Roundup in Kansas, where the performance schedule has been posted--looks like Bucky's fans at the Roundup are going to be treated to an evening show! He and his excellent band will take the stage there on Friday, May 30th at 8:30 p.m.; they'll be playing after Luke Bryan, and just before Lorrie Morgan tops off the night. Ticket information is here--there are one-day passes available at the gate, too. (KFDI in Wichita is co-sponsoring the festival, so you might want to tune in for any developments...)

Thanks to the very kind Buckems for an update on last month's survey at Country Weekly. Remember that "who can fill these boots" poll? George Strait is an Idol for just about every country fan, and Country Weekly gave fans of emerging stars a chance to express their confidence in their "Kings In Waiting". Bucky came in at a very impressive #3! To find out who else made the list, pick up the May 19th issue of Country Weekly, on newsstands now. (There's a great feature article about Bucky's labelmate Josh Gracin in the online edition, too.)

Bucky's latest single. "I'll Walk" is doing very nicely--it was #1 on yesterday's WKML "Top 5 at 6" (thanks to a kind anonymous poster for the news) and it's a bulleted #63 on the Mediabase weighted chart this morning. Midask9 describes an interesting chat with her local DJ at It's Good to Be Us today (go look!) and the general buzz is that Monday, May 5th is the official official release date. If your local country station hopped on board early, feel free to call them up and request "I'll Walk"! There's a new blog entry at Bucky's MySpace with a link to some great request graphics that you can use on your MySpace profile, blog or site. Hang on tight--it's going to be a fun chart-watching spring and summer.

More later today--see you in a bit!--Winnie

Quick Thursday news: viva Las Vegas and more...

Bucky Covington at the KNCI Country in the Park concert in Sacramento last summer; photo by the gracious Minnie, who shares more of her beautiful images from the show in her Photobucket gallery. Thanks again, Minnie!

Bucky Covington and his band will join Dierks Bentley poolside at the Red Rock Resort Sandbar in Las Vegas tomorrow. (As we all know, anything could happen in Vegas and most of it probably will. ) If you'd like to be there for the musical part of the party, tickets may still be available at the Station Casinos online box office, or stop in at the the Red Rock box office on 11011 W. Charleston Blvd. After that, the Throttle Wide Open stars hit the big Stagecoach Festival in California on Saturday--Bucky, Dierks and Luke Bryan will all be playing the Mane Stage during the course of the day.

Nowhere near the West this weekend? Bucky's extensive concert schedule very likely includes a stop near you sometime this spring or summer--check out his official tour list, and make plans to enjoy a live, rockin' concert you won't forget!

Bucky's latest single, "I'll Walk", begins the day where it ended yesterday on the Mediabase weighted chart, where it's #62 with a bullet. His official site has posted audio and some great new buttons and graphics for your MySpace, blog, email signatures or website; click here to see them all and get the code for easy posting. Bucky's fans have also been busy and very creative--check out Robin's beautiful beach-themed "I'll Walk" banner below (click to view full size):

Our talented friend Robin made this banner to promote Bucky's new single, "I'll Walk"--thanks so much to her for sharing it!

Around the net, you'll find some fun observations on "concert withdrawal syndrome" from Midask9 on her It's Good to Be Us blog today. (We can relate!) Country's Chatter features news on Kenny Chesney's stage mishap--country performers are some of the most dedicated in all the world, bar none. Get well soon, Kenny! Nikki's Simply a Bucky Fan has a redesigned layout with a bright new banner--very stylish!

And Steve Cook's Shiny Bass Journal is freshly updated and worth the wait, as always--hop over there now and read his latest well-written missive from the road.

Bucky's the star (with a photo) of Neil Haislop's excellent Country Q and A column at GAC's site today, where a fan asked about the the airtime given to Bucky's videos. (Edited to add a heads-up from diamondstarbc: "They [GAC] are running a Top 20 countdown commercial featuring Bucky. Really cute commercial. I saw it four times yesterday." Keep your eyes out for this one--sounds like fun! Thanks to diamondstarbc for the tip.)

A quick trip to CMAFest.com will make you smile--Bucky's among the rotation of big, splashy star photos used on the main page, and his name is in the crawl up top as well. (Thanks to a kind elf for pointing it out.) Bucky's performing in this year's CMA Fest nightly concerts at LP Field--go to the Fest's site for info on the whole celebration, including ticket and package options. (And be sure to check out CMT's dazzling CMA Fest sweepstakes, too. Going for free is even more fun...)

Come on, y'all know you want this shirt!Speaking of CMT and wins, a huge congrats to our good friend Diver, who won a piece of country music memorabilia to treasure--she was the winning bidder in the One Country charity auction for Bucky's "Real Good Man" Scully Gunfighter shirt. (There is apparently much, much love for this photo, judging by our mailbox, so...here it is again. It's no longer being offered at Posters.com, but we'll keep an eye out and if it turns up elsewhere, we'll pass the link along. Thanks for writing...)

More very soon--see you later today!

"I'll Walk" feedback, and a sales update...

Another memorable performance of "I'll Walk", by request--here's Bucky Covington and his excellent band at the Texas Club in Baton Rouge, as captured by the very talented diamondstarbc. Thanks for writing!

If you're hearing Bucky Covington's latest single, "I'll Walk", on your local country radio station, congratulations--you're in great (and growing) company. Feel free to give your area DJs some positive feedback on the song! (Yep, we've said it here quite often--stations do like to know they're pleasing the locals, and a call to say you enjoyed the new Bucky Covington tune and would like to hear it again is always a nice touch...)

On the album sales front, Bucky Covington, the CD, sold 1300 copies this week according to Ken Barnes of USA Today's Idol Chatter blog, for a total of 339,000 and counting.

Thanks to a kind anonymous poster for the heads-up on the latest Radio & Records country singles chart; "I'll Walk" makes its official debut at #60 this week. Congrats, Bucky--the tune's off to a great start! More soon--Winnie

First look at Wednesday: Stagecoach set times and Country Thunder memories...

Jeff Cease, Bucky Covington and Ducky Medlock rock the crowd at last weekend's Country Thunder festival in Florence, Arizona; photo by the very kind Gayle L., who posted a full gallery from the show here. Enjoy!

Come on back for a full news post later today, but for now, here are the just-released set times for this weekend's Stagecoach Festival, via the Riverside, California Press-Enterprise--Bucky Covington, Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley will all be performing on the "Mane Stage" Saturday, and that whole lineup looks like a musical delight...

Country Thunder in Arizona was definitely delightful, and Gayle L. captured the excitement in this beautiful set of photos at Slide.com. (We linked ahead to Bucky's shots, but be sure to enjoy the whole gallery--it's stunning.) Many thanks to the very gracious photographer for posting these!

A quick chart check--"I'll Walk" rose to #62 overnight with a beautiful bullet on the Mediabase weighted rankings. Stay tuned for a sales update coming later today...

Finally, a question about Bucky's "female following" leads to a very funny/snarky bit of speculation from Bucky's friend (and partner in wit) Kellie Pickler in this audio interview with Ben and Matt of KNIX, shared by the kind folks at Kellie Fans. (Get ready to giggle!)

If you're wondering what they meant about "that thing he does" on stage, click here to visit Bucky's official site and get a look at his updated schedule, then get out to a show--you're in for a rockin' treat. More soon!--Winnie

A little bonus video from Bucky...

Bucky Covington enjoys some four-wheeling fun in this brand new behind the scenes video posted at his official MySpace profile. Enjoy! (Thanks to Aikenseeker for the kind heads-up.)

Tuesday news: springtime, and the winning is easy...

Bucky Covington shares a smile with the crowd in this fun photo taken by the talented Dana, who was there for the Marion, Illinois concert earlier this month. Thanks so much to Dana for sending this shot along!

It's safe to say that we've got what amounts to a mini-lull in progress--but there's a lot to look forward to as the week gets into full gear. Tomorrow, Bucky Covington and headliner Dierks Bentley bring the Throttle Wide Open excitement to the Star Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico; last-minute seats might be available at GetTix.net.

After that, enjoy Bucky and Dierks at the Red Rock Resort Sandbar in Las Vegas on May 2nd; tickets are on sale at the Station Casinos online box office, or head over to the Red Rock box office on 11011 W. Charleston Blvd in Las Vegas. They'll round out the week with a stop at the big Stagecoach Festival in California on May 3rd--should be exciting, indeed! For all the latest on Bucky's concert tour, be sure to bookmark his official site, and hold on tight--it's going to be a busy summer.

Our friend Midask9 is looking forward to that upcoming summer concert season, too--check out her latest update (including a stunning photo, as always) at It's Good to Be Us today, where her observations about the advantages of early arrival at the festival grounds are a fun and informative read...

A summer festival-style memory, by request; here's "Suspicious Minds" from Covington, VA, captured by the talented hourglass131. Thanks for writing!

Bucky's latest single, "I'll Walk", moved up yet another spot on the Mediabase weighted chart today--it's #63 with a bullet, and those early "pick or flick" wins are a good sign that the beautiful ballad will be part of your local station's regular schedule before long. More very soon--have a terrific Tuesday!

(Edited to add a huge congratulations to Bucky's labelmate Phil Stacey on the release of his debut album today--we Bucky Covington fans sure remember our April excitement last year with much fondness, and we know Phil's fans are having a blast. All the best!)

"I'll Walk" news and new videos from Bucky...

Photo of Bucky Covington by Pizzi--click image to see more. Thanks, Pizzi!

Bucky Covington's "I'll Walk" is movin' on up in the radio world; the new single is sporting seven new stations on this week's Country Aircheck "adds" list--and nope, still no official add date as of post time. (Unofficially, we're pretty pleased...)

And Steve Cook and the guys have some fun behind the scenes glimpses for you at Bucky's YouTube profile today--enjoy a bit of off duty bus fun, and watch what happens when the band asks the timeless question, "how you doin'?" There's a bonus video at Bucky's YouTube profile, too--check out this fun "photo session" clip featuring the stars, friends and family of the Throttle Wide Open tour. Many thanks to Steve and the gang for sharing! More soon--Winnie

(You can enjoy him next in Rio Rancho, NM on the 30th at the Star Center.) Midask9 has some summertime excitement ahead at It's Good to Be Us today--enjoy, and be sure to check out her two fantastic photos du jour...)

No new photos from any of our Western country music stations so far--we'll keep checking!-but a couple of new-to-us photo galleries popped up while we were on the search. Here's a fun set of vintage "private show" photos from Top 40 station WRVW/107.5 The River in Nashville, and a more recent group of listener-contributed Birmingham Throttle Wide Open shots on WZZK's site.

We got a request from a very devoted Rocky Covington fan for this one--here's Rocky, Bucky and the rest of that excellent band performing "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" at the Wildhorse in Nashville during last fall's Raisin' the Bar extravaganza, captured by the very talented hourglass131. Thanks for writing!

We'll close this relatively quiet news day with a few reminders--if you haven't already hopped over to Opry.com for your tickets for Bucky's Tuesday, May 27th performance, stop here and pick up your discount code before you order! This is a reunion show of sorts--Bucky shares the bill with producers/mentors/friends Sawyer Brown and labelmate Phil Stacey that night. (Check out Phil's new CD at Clear Channel now if you'd like to sing along in May...)

More later--have a great Monday!

Early Monday morning chart news (and a little more video from CMT)

A big thank you to Buckyflowers for giving us a heads-up about the latest chart jump by Bucky Covington's new single, "I'll Walk"--it finished the weekend at #63 on the Mediabase weighted chart, up from #68 on Sunday morning. The momentum is building--be sure to keep an ear out for those "like it or lump it" segments in your neck of the woods!

And here's one last bit of CMT Music Awards nostalgia--that pre-show "Behind the Scenes Extras" comedy spot with Adam Black is now available on CMT Loaded. (If you'll recall, Bucky had the behind the scenes host gig for last year's Awards--from "Outsider" to performing nominee in a year is quite an accomplishment!)

More later this morning--see you in a bit!--Winnie

First look at Sunday--a review from Utah and a one of a kind guitar to win...

Bucky Covington enjoys a soulful moment on stage in Indianapolis at the Murat Theatre; photo by the very kind Danna, who shares more shots from the night in her beautiful Photobucket gallery. Thanks again, Danna!

Sunday begins with this unabashedly positive review of last night's Throttle Wide Open show in Utah from the Deseret News. Carma Wadley reports that Bucky Covington, Lee Brice and headliner Dierks Bentley rocked the E Center in style, noting that Bucky sang with "passion and panache" and calling him an "energetic crowd-pleaser". (We're hoping some concert photos will turn up at local stations KBUL and KSOP soon--bookmark those pages and check back often...)

Bucky, Dierks and Luke Bryan's next stop is the Star Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico on April 30th; tickets are available at GetTix.net. (For more information on Bucky's tour--including meet and greet options--pop into his official site now.)

You probably won't get to play this next item on stage with Bucky and his excellent band, but it's safe to bet you will want to treasure it if you're the winner! AmericanIdol.com is celebrating the success of Bucky Covington, Phil Stacey and Josh Gracin by giving away a guitar signed by all three gentlemen, and you can enter to win it right here. One entry per person, and the contest ends on May 21st. Good luck!

Short but sweet--and great quality, too. Enjoy a minute of Bucky Covington and his band performing a very energetic "It's Good to Be Us" at the Longbranch Saloon in Raleigh last fall; video by the very kind vbrinkley08. Thanks for posting this one!

Bucky's upcoming single, "I'll Walk", is #68 with a bullet on the Mediabase weighted chart this morning as its pre-release climb continues--look for more movement this week as the "pick or flick" and test-drive segments begin again on Monday. (Will the song hit Top 50 before its official release date? Hmmm...)

Click here to vote for Bucky at GAC.comWe'll top off the morning for now with some quick reminders--"It's Good to Be Us" is still on the menu at GAC Top 20 Country Countdown, and we'll keep voting for it as long as they'll let us! At CMT.com, a CMA Fest sweepstakes awaits; enter to win an "ultimate country music fan experience" including airfare, passes and more. (If you'd rather not leave it to chance, head over to Ticketmaster, where single-night tickets are on sale. Bucky, Sara Evans, Billy Ray Cyrus, Dwight Yoakam, Randy Travis and James Otto will take the stage on June 8, and that will be a night to remember! More information is available at www.CMAfest.com.)

Have a wonderful Sunday!

A preview of Stagecoach...

Bucky Covington faces a windy sound check during his Indiana State Fair show last summer; click here to enjoy more concert photos by the very generous Buckybaby01. (Thanks again, Buckybaby!)

Bucky Covington got a fun quote --and a great photo in the artists' slideshow--in this preview of the upcoming Stagecoach Festival that ran in today's Orange County Register. Here's what he had to say about the joys of summertime festival shows:

One part of the Stagecoach experience might be the perceived approachability of country's artists. With their music geared specifically toward working-class people and ideals, some of the artists at Stagecoach enjoy coming off the stage and soaking up the atmosphere with the people who paid to get in.

"I look out there in the crowd and I see people havin' the time of their life in these festivals," Bucky Covington said. "I'd love to go tailgatin' and that, and every so often I do slip out and do some tailgatin'."

If you'd like to be among those there for the excitement (and the tailgating), head over to the official Stagecoach site now; the festival takes place May 3 and 4, 2008 in Indio, CA. Have a fantastic Saturday night!--Winnie
